Sheet 02 / Services

What the advice covers

Independent of any single course or provider. Each service draws on published research and is explained without jargon, and every session ends with a booked next step.

Services on the map

Every service sits on a route

Choose a stop to read what it covers. Route A is for your own next move, route B is for families and supporters, and route C keeps the plan moving over time.

Grid A1

Pathway maps

A clear map from where you are to where you want to be, with stepping stones and fallback options.

We set out the realistic routes from where you are now: entry points, study options, typical first roles and the points where you can change direction. Each route shows its trade-offs in time, cost to you and effort, so the choice is yours and it is an informed one.

Suits

  • Anyone weighing up more than one direction
  • People who want to see the whole route before taking the first step

You leave with

  • A written pathway map you keep
  • Fallback options if the first route closes
  • A booked next step
Ask about pathway maps

Grid A2

Study choice guidance

Compare courses, levels and entry routes side by side, so the choice fits you rather than a sales target.

We compare the courses and levels that could get you where you want to go: vocational and higher education, full time and part time, online and on campus. We explain entry requirements, what the study involves week to week, and the questions worth asking any provider before you enrol.

Suits

  • School leavers and their families
  • Adults returning to study
  • Anyone choosing between offers

You leave with

  • A side by side comparison in plain language
  • Questions to ask any provider
  • Official sources to check fees and funding
Ask about study choice guidance

Grid A3

Sector and role insights

What the work involves, where demand is heading and typical pay, drawn from current published sources.

Before you commit to a field, we look at what the work is really like, how people enter it, how demand is tracking and what typical pay looks like, using current published labour market and education sources. Where figures are uncertain or vary by region, we say so.

Suits

  • Career changers
  • People new to Australia
  • Anyone choosing between fields

You leave with

  • A short brief on the sector and roles
  • Sources you can check yourself
  • Honest notes on uncertainty
Ask about sector and role insights

Grid A4

Second-opinion sessions

Already have an offer or a plan? Test it with an independent view before you enrol or resign.

Bring the course offer, job offer or plan you already have. We look at it independently: whether it leads where you expect, what it costs you in time and money, what the alternatives are and what to ask before you sign. We have nothing to sell you either way.

Suits

  • People with an enrolment or job offer in hand
  • Families asked to sign or pay for something

You leave with

  • A clear view of the offer and its alternatives
  • Questions to put to the provider or employer
  • A booked next step
Ask about second-opinion sessions

Grid B1

Parent and supporter guidance

Understand the options and how to support a decision well, on your own or in a joint session.

For parents, partners and supporters who want to help without taking over. We brief you on the options, the language and the questions to ask, and we can run a joint session with the person deciding at the centre.

Suits

  • Parents and carers
  • Partners and family members
  • Mentors and supporters

You leave with

  • A briefing on the options
  • What to say and what to avoid
  • A shared plan everyone understands
Ask about parent and supporter guidance

Grid B2

School and adviser resources

Plain-language material that schools and careers advisers can use with students and families.

Schools and careers advisers can use our plain-language guides with students and families: how to compare courses, how to read entry requirements, and how to plan a conversation at home. Ask us about sessions for parent evenings and year group events.

Suits

  • Careers advisers and teachers
  • School leadership teams
  • Community organisations

You leave with

  • Guides written for families
  • Session outlines for events
  • A contact for follow-up questions
Ask about school and adviser resources

Grid C1

Annual career check-ups

A yearly review of your direction, skills and the market, so small adjustments happen before big problems.

Once a year we review where you are against your plan: what has changed in your work, your study and the market around you. We adjust the route and book the next step, so you are never starting again from scratch.

Suits

  • People in study or early career
  • Mid-career professionals planning a next step

You leave with

  • An updated pathway map
  • Notes on what has changed in your field
  • A booked next step
Ask about annual career check-ups

Grid C2

Action bridges

Every session ends with a booked next step, so a good conversation turns into real movement.

Every session ends the same way: with one specific next step, a date for it and a way for us to check in. It might be an application, a conversation with an employer, an open day or a follow-up session. A good conversation is only useful if something happens next.

Suits

  • Everyone who books advice

You leave with

  • One specific next step
  • A date to do it by
  • A check-in so it does not slip
Ask about action bridges

Independence

Not tied to any single course or provider

We are paid for advice, not for enrolments. Career Calling Advice is part of CAQA Groups, which includes a registered training organisation. When one of its courses is a genuine option for you, we say so plainly and show the alternatives alongside it.

Not sure which service you need?

Most people are not. Answer a few questions in the route planner, or just tell us the decision and we will suggest a route.
